The aim of the workshop was to imagine an involume trip tounveil hidden spaces by substracting mass. The site selected was treinnale garden area where a block of 14x9m was to excavate and unveil a hidden space and design a space providing a bookstore/ exhibit and recreational spaces for visitors. The inspiration for the concept was carlo scarpas design of brion tomb steps where there is a composition of steps ascending and descending, steps that are moulded into the concrete of architecture that contract and expand space. The other inspiration was india's great ancient stepwell used or the purpose of great baths with recreational spaces around
the pond. So the concept of using steps unveils the hidden space by excavating the earth creating a space for recreational purposes.
